12"Figures Poster Installation
Posters ship rolled, so you'll want to first find a clean, smooth surface so you can lay them flat and put a clean, heavy flat object such as a heavy book on top to sit for a couple of days - or until the poster lays flat. Be careful not to let any edges curl over when setting anything on top, so that you don't crease the poster(s).
PROTECTING YOUR POSTER is easy! Besides the obvious (such as not getting wet, not putting in direct sunlight, etc.), first apply shipping tape permanently to the backside (blank side) of the poster to cover areas where you will be using adhesive, tape, or adhesive putty. Then apply your tape or adhesive as usual - but ONLY TO AREAS PROTECTED BY SHIPPING TAPE. This way tape/adhesive may be removed from the protected parts of the poster without ripping the poster back, if it needs to be re-positioned or moved.
To install in display area or case, you have a few options:
1.a INSTALL DIRECTLY against the back of the display area (wall, panel, glass, etc). TO PROTECT THE POSTER, FIRST apply shipping tape permanently to the backside (blank side) of the poster to cover areas where you will be using adhesive, tape, or putty. Then apply your tape or adhesive as usual - but ONLY TO AREAS PROTECTED BY SHIPPING TAPE. This way tape/adhesive may be removed from the protected parts of the poster (without ripping the poster back) if it needs to be re-positioned or moved. If the back of the display is glass, you may secure it on either side of the glass (inside will cut down on glare).
1.b TO PLACE POSTER OUTSIDE GLASS CASE AGAINST GLASS FACING INTO the display, you can still put shipping tape around the edges of the poster back, where ever you will tape it up against the back, to protect as usual (you won't want to use adhesive or putty on the image face, or it could ruin the image, so I recommend only taping the shipping-tape-protected-edges against the display back.
2. MOUNTING poster back on foam core, cardboard, poster board etc., with the tape/adhesive of your choice, or use a mounting service. This way you can stand it up against the back of the display area or secure it there by the means of your choice. PLEASE NOTE: I don't do mounting since shipping costs so much more and is much riskier sent that way. If you want it done by a professional, many art, framing, craft, and office supply stores offer this service.
BASE POSTERS (showing ground/floor/deck) may set it on the display bottom without anything securing it. Or use the method above, applying shipping tape to protect the blank underside of the poster, and then apply tape to the protected areas to secure it to the floor or shelf of the display.
TO DISPLAY IN AN IKEA DETOLF SHELF you may secure inside or outside Detolf shelf against glass. HOWEVER, since the rear metal rods will then show, I personally recommend mounting the backdrop (or if you don't want to mount it, follow the directions above for installing - but adhering it to a 15"x15" board of some kind instead of anything in the Detolf, then securing the BOARD against the front of the REAR RODS of the Detolf, hiding them.
WHAT I PERSONALLY DO IN DETOLF SHELVES is use two-sided tape on the back of the poster, and stick the backdrop to a poster board previously cut to size that I already tested on the Detolf shelf (I cut for each shelf since they can vary some). Then I use adhesive putty (available at many craft stores) applied to the metal rods in the back, and carefully stick the backdrop on in front of the rods - pressing firmly against the rods (BUT NOT TOO HARD - you don't want to break the Detolf shelf). This way you can also hide any wires/cables behind the backdrop that go to figures/statues with electronics in them or if you use a Soap Reactor.

12"Figures FAQ
1. Figures, statues, props & accessories are NOT included and are shown for scale.
2. Please check for the current papers we offer.
3. Due to differences between pixels, ink and varying screen displays, colors may vary from what you see on your monitor.
4. Poster sizes may vary by approximately 1/8th inch.
5. Posters are NOT mounted. For framing/mounting please refer to your local office supply, art, craft & framing shops.
6. "Base" poster is only a term used to describe the poster in the sets that pictures ground/deck/floor - and it is not an actual base that the back plugs into, only a second poster which may be set on the shelf of your display below figures.
7. If you're concern about possible figure discoloration from long term contact to poster ink when setting figures on a base poster, use a clear barrier such as acetate between poster and figure. This IS NOT a known issue - only a precaution - I would rather be overly careful than risk damage to anyone's collectibles. I've personally had figures displayed for several years on a base poster, and they have been fine (but I don't have any figures with white boots or feet).
8. Soft images provide appropriate display environment without distracting from figure. Posters NOT meant to be hung by themselves-that isn't their purpose. Detail level can take focus from figure making things too busy, and an almost "impressionistic" image (like a matte painting) works much better. This is NOT a quality issue, it is by CHOICE AND DESIGN.
